The Medical Intervention Team
Our Team
The ‚Medical Intervention Team‘ (MIT) is an acknowledged charitable association, founded by otolaryngologist Dr. Barun Sarkar, plastic surgeon Dr. Julia Berkei and dentist Dr. Tarun Sarkar in 2009. Skilled experts on plastic surgery, otolaryngology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, anesthesia and dentistry have joined together for gratuitously helping people in developing countries and conflict areas, who are in need. Over 50 dedicated doctors, nurses and medical students have participated in operations of the Medical Intervention Team in Myanmar since 2009. We are grateful for everyones‘ incredibly selfless work at the monastery-run hospital of Sagaing Hills and we also thank our numerous sponsors and aides in Frankfurt, whose generous support made this project possible in the first place. More than 500 children have already received surgery, thanks to the enthusiasm of all the participants. The Medical Intervention Team stands for humanism, empathy and responsibility.
